Porsche Announces New, Faster 911 GTS Models

Yesterday, Porsche issued a press release announcing that it is expanding the 911 model line with five new GTS models:

  • 911 Carrera GTS Coupé with rear-wheel drive
  • 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet with all-wheel drive
  • 911 Carrera 4 GTS Coupé with rear-wheel drive
  • 911 Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet with all-wheel drive
  • 911 Targa 4 GTS with all-wheel drive

A 3.0-liter flat-six power plant with large turbochargers generates 450 horsepower (30 more than current 911 Carrera S) and 405 pound-feet of torque (37 more than the Carrera S). All models come equipped with a standard seven-speed manual transmission, with a seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) dual-clutch transmission available as an option.

Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) is standard equipment on all GTS models. Coupé models feature a PASM sport variant that drops ride height by 10 millimeters compared to those of the Cabriolet and Targa models.

Carrera 4 GTS models are capable of accelerating from a standstill to 60 miles per hour in a scant 3.4 seconds--0.2 seconds faster than Carrera S and 4S Coupés. Top track speed with a manual transmission and rear-wheel drive is 193 mph.

All five models are available for order now. They are scheduled to begin arriving in dealerships across the United States in April 2017.
